Hi, I’m Christine. A few things about me - I am a wife, a mom to three girls, a full time corporate employee and I’ve always wanted to write. This is me being brave and going for it! I have no formal agenda in mind but to share my story and encourage you to share yours. Thank you for stopping by!

Finding Joy and Getting Healthy

You would do anything for your family, but would you get healthy for them?

I was scrolling through Instagram and I came across a fitness account where it was a video of their family doing various day to day things and the caption was that question above. I’m a jaded millennial so nothing on social media really causes me to react in a big way, but this question caused an immediate reaction.

I’ve put off my health related goals for so many years now and my health has only gotten worse because of it. I’ve become passionate about getting healthy and learning what is best for me and my body. I feel like I know what I need to be doing but I just haven’t been doing it. So when this question came across my feed and I made the connection to my family I realized that this unhealthy lifestyle is not something that effects just me but it effects my beautiful family. I need to be the best version of myself for them.

Why am I writing about this and why are you here reading this? I need a space to work all this out. There is so much information out there and when you couple that with decades worth of bad habits, getting healthy can be extremely overwhelming. Now when I say getting healthy I don’t mean looking like JLo at 50 years old. Getting healthy for me means not having diabetes, not being on medications, not having negative check ups at the doctor. It means being able to lift heavy things, being active with my family and even being able to walk around on my own when I’m older. For me that is health.

I think right now, in this moment in time living in America, health is so important - mental and physical. We have to be the best version of ourselves not only to be there for our families, but our communities. To provide joy for one another. We need to be in the right headspace to stay current on affairs and be able to take action. There is a lot of negativity out there and a lot of negative things going on but we must fight it with joy. Health and joy - it’s all connected.

Here's to health and joy in 2025.
